It’s Dangerous Out There

At some point we must realize that the purpose of life
is not to arrive safely at death. – Mark Batterson.

It’s a dangerous world and if our goal is to live safely we must immediately abandon all missionary efforts. Missions is often dangerous – so dangerous you could die.

In fact, here’s a little secret: You will die. We all do.
The obvious question then, is, “Will you live before you die?”

While CTEN missionaries understand the risks they take obeying the Lord’s invitation to go, He also told us to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” We should make reasonable preparations and take prudent precautions.

With that in mind, I’m delighted to introduce you to the newest members of the Commission To Every Nation home staff – Marty and Carolyn Buffenbarger, our Global Security Advisor.

The Buffenbargers are not new to missions, CTEN or security. He has 35 years of experience in law enforcement. They served for 8 years on short-term teams in Costa Rica and Ecuador and nearly 3 years as full time CTEN missionaries in Costa Rica where they trained Costa Rican police officers, shared the gospel and participated in Bible Studies with the officers and their families.

Marty and Carolyn will track developing world situations that could affect our missionaries, freeing our CTEN missionaries to focus on what God has called them to do.

Welcome aboard, Marty and Carolyn!
