A Most Unusual Strategy

This was a battle like no other. Israel was at war. Joshua led the troops and Moses stood on a hill overlooking the bloody scene below.  “As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel would win.” But Moses eventually became exhausted, too tired to hold his arms up, and “as soon as he put his hands down, the Amalekites would start to win.” (Exodus 17:11)

Two men, Aaron and Hur, rushed to the rescue. They stood with Moses, helping carry the weight for hours, until the battle was won. Joshua swung the sword but his success depended upon the team that stood behind him.

What a picture of your part and my part in the battle we wage today against the spiritual forces of darkness. Our missionaries are on the front lines wielding the “sword of the Spirit” but their success is dependent upon the faithfulness of the team that stands with them.

Through prayer, through our financial gifts, through our words and acts of encouragement, we help bear the weight of ministry and enable our front line ministers to dispel darkness with the light of the good news of Jesus. Thanks for helping to strengthen, encourage and enable our Commission To Every Nation missionaries.

Isaiah 35:3-4

With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”

Ephesians 6:12

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
