Dick and Birdie have served 44 years in ministry with cross-cultural missions their main focus. After graduating from the Bethany College of Missions, they pastored in Nebraska for two years. For 35 years, they served as missionaries in Puerto Rico, the US and Mexico.
Their ministry has included Christian literature distribution, pastoring, missions training, serving national pastors and giving pastoral care to missionaries. Theyve served in cities and among the remote Mexican indigenous. Though it seemed their career was coming to a close with their former mission, they wanted to continue helping the church fulfill its God-given purpose to reach the nations for Christ. The Lord opened the door to work with CTEN where they co-labor with the sending church and their missionaries to help strengthen their relationship and increase their effectiveness.
Married in 1968, they have two grown sons, both born in Puerto Rico. Having raised “TCMKs” (3rd culture missionary kids) gives them insight into this area of need in the missionary families. Birdies Mexican heritage gives her added insight and helps her to identify with some of the cultural difficulties faced on the field.
