Gordon and Debbie Crandell

Gordon and Debbie both accepted Christ in 1972 and were married in 1976. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Gordon served in pastoral care from 1981-1984 in a lay position, and later served as an elder from 2000-2003 with oversight responsibilities for foreign missions at Community Bible Church in High Point, NC. From 2000-2009, Gordon and Debbie led eleven short-term trips for the church to Guatemala, Peru, and China. They received the call to full-time missionary service during this period.

Gordon had his own business for twenty-seven years specializing in residential and commercial door and lock installation. He has been a carpenter for forty-one years and a licensed locksmith for ten. Debbie is a Library of Congress certified Braille Transcriber and worked for twenty years in the local school system as a transcriptionist and later as Braille Coordinator for the county.

They deployed to Costa Rica in 2013 and after a year of language study have served together as part of the pastoral care team at The Spanish Language Institute in San José, Costa Rica. The Spanish Language Institute is the oldest missionary language training center in Latin America. God has uniquely gifted them with the ministry of encouragement and given them a heart to care for missionaries and other students from around the world as they adjust to living cross-culturally and go through the normal stresses of learning a new language. After forty-one years of marriage, they bring a sense of stability and calm to students during a difficult year of transition.
