Abu Majd
Jamal is the founder and director of Hand of Help, an NGO in Kurdistan, Iraq, that serves displaced refugees and poor people. He also has a church-planting ministry in other parts of the M.E. and N.A. He desires to see Muslims come to know Christ, and to serve and encourage Muslim-background believers. All services that Hand of Help provides are for the ultimate purpose of sharing Christ’s love in an area where most have never heard the gospel. Hand of Help distributes food to the needy and provides vocational training courses, such as sewing, hairdressing, electrical, computer, and English. Hand of Help also translates Christian literature into Kurdish, and freely distributes Bible and Christian books.
Jamal and Merna are originally from Jordan. Jamal comes from a Muslim background and Merna from a Christian background. In 1992 Jamal had a life-changing encounter with Jesus, which changed the course of his life. He met Merna while they were serving with a ministry team in the UK in 1994. They have continued to serve in ministry throughout their marriage. Jamal and Merna have three grown sons: Majd, Fadi, and Sami.
