Purse & Clutch is a socially conscious handbag brand working to break the cycle of poverty by connecting you to weavers & seamstresses in Guatemala. We oversee design & production for the talented artisans on our teams as a way to support long term employment opportunities. Our goal is simple: to be an agent of change in the fashion industry while connecting like-minded women around the world.
We currently employ almost 20 women in Guatemala, most of whom are single mothers. These ladies use their skills of making and dying thread, weaving, and sewing to create one of a kind pieces. Each item is made 100% by hand starting with the hand-spun botanically dyed thread and ending with the careful construction of each bag by our seamstresses.
Not only does Purse & Clutch provide sustainable job opportunities to these ladies but also friendship, community, and discipleship. Our number one goal is to see these women come to know and cherish Christ. Through working together every day, Lindsey (the on-site manager) is able to pour into these ladies lives through intentional conversation and bible studies. We have seen so much personal growth and many women come to know the Lord through these discipleship relationships. We believe that employment leads to empowerment which ultimately leads to development in the individual lives of these ladies as well as their families and community!
