Michael and Sharlene McDonald

In 2006, after nearly a decade of pastoring in Canada, the McDonalds, along with their three children, embarked on a transformative journey to Mexico. Their mission? To serve communities, develop leaders, and strengthen local churches.

During their time in Tijuana, Michael and Sharlene launched a mobile Bible Institute, bringing Christian leadership training and mentoring to under-served neighborhoods. This initiative, which they successfully transitioned to local leadership in 2010, has since nurtured over 60 graduates. Michael's teaching gifts also found expression at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Ensenada, while Sharlene devoted herself to women's ministry, hospitality, and homeschooling their sons.

2016 saw the McDonalds relocate to La Paz, where they pastored a burgeoning church and established "La Huerta," a school dedicated to training pastors and missionaries. Here, Sharlene's ministry expanded to include children's outreach and administrative support for La Huerta.

After 17 fruitful years in Mexico and a brief period of service in the Philippines, the McDonalds have felt God's call to return to Canadian soil. They now serve on Vancouver Island, focusing on church planting and mentoring emerging leaders within the Calvary Chapels of British Columbia.

They are currently doing so while planting Calvary Chapel Duncan and helping to give shape to “Calvary Equipped” a hybrid learning and mentoring program with the goal of finding and raising up Church planters for the harvest field in Canada.

They remain closely connected to the work in Mexico mentoring the church planters from afar and leading Canadian Church groups to Mexico to serve in these incredible works.
